According to local press reports cited by BNamericas, television regulator CNTV claims it did not receive a request from Telmex to merge the business operations of three recently acquired cable companies – Superview, TV Cable and Cable Pacífico. In a letter to the country’s public services watchdog, the SIC, CNTV said it had received a request from Telmex to put the companies under one concession licence but not to merge their operations. The report comes in light of SIC scrutiny to determine whether CNTV observed laws governing market competition before approving the acquisitions of Cablecentro, Satelcaribe, TV Cable, Superview and Cable Pacífico by Telmex.
