Softbank Mobile to make O/S vendor-friendly

23 May 2007

Softbank Mobile plans to adopt a new common mobile phone operating system that will make it easier for different handset manufacturers to make new models for its network. According to Dow Jones, Softbank will sign up to the ‘Portable Open Platform Initiative’ to speed up the development of new handsets by providing a common software interface. Unlike rivals such as NTT DoCoMo, Softbank has not been using open platform software.
