Indotel expecting more than USD1 billion investment

Indotel has revealed in statement, quoted by BNamericas, that it expects telcos to invest more than USD1 billion in 2007 and 2008, with the spending going towards infrastructure rollout of technologies such as WiMAX, service improvements and new fibre-optic cables to build the Network Access Point (NAP) of the Caribbean. The regulatory body anticipates new WiMAX rollout from mobile operator Tricom, and that two other companies are preparing WiMAX services by investing more than USD100 million with a view to launching in the next few months.
