Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is set to award Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks a combined contract worth in the region of USD4.5 billion. In April Motorola withdrew the lawsuit it filed which challenged its disqualification from tendering process. As per the terms of the tender, Ericsson, which emerged as the lowest bidder, will get an order for 60% of 45.5 million lines while the second lowest bidder – Nokia – will get the remainder. ‘We have worked out all the details and are ready to place an advance purchase order in the next one or two days,’ BSNL’s Finance Director S. D. Saxena told Dow Jones Newswires.
