21 May 2007

Orange Romania says it has successfully completed a trial of HSUPA equipment on its network. The 3.5G technology offers peak uplink speeds of 1.9Mbps. Tests have been carried out using equipment supplied by Huawei Technologies of China. Orange says HSUPA will be available commercially by the end of the year; HSDPA technology, which provides enhanced downlink speeds up to 3.6Mbps, is due to be introduced in ten cities in June.
