Paraguay’s state-run monopoly fixed line operator Copaco says it plans to spend a total of USD48 million on the expansion of its networks and services in 2007. BNamericas quotes a report from local newspaper ABC Color which says Copaco has already installed 135,000 new fixed lines so far this year; it plans to make 8,000 new fixed wireless access connections available by November. The telco currently has around 320,000 lines installed, of which 280,000 are in service.
