Mexico’s second largest cableco by subscribers, Cablemás, has posted a year-on-year 17% rise in revenue to MXN640 million (USD60 million) for the first quarter of 2007. Net income more than doubled to MXN134 million. ‘We continue to expand the market penetration of our service offering. This quarter our subscriber base rose year-over-year by 20.2% in cable television, 48.2% in high speed internet and 167% in IP telephony,’ CEO Carlos Álvarez Figueroa said. Cablemás ended the quarter with 198,471 broadband subscribers compared to 133,962 one year ago. The company also ended the period with 26,567 IP telephony lines in service. IP telephony revenues for the quarter rose 40.4% year-over-year to MXN24.3 million.
