TDC hires Nortel

Danish incumbent telco TDC has engaged the services of Canadian vendor Nortel to improve its optical dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) next-generation network (NGN), in order to meet growing demand in Denmark and the Nordic region for multimedia services including internet television (IPTV), voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) and virtual private networks (VPNs). According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, TDC is the leading provider of fixed line and broadband services in Denmark, boasting 2.59 million and 1.15 million subscribers respectively at the end of 2006.
