Softbank to diversify into TV segment

According to an article published in the Wall Street Journal, Japanese internet group Softbank Corp is considering a move into television broadcasting to further develop its ability to deliver content via the internet. Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son is quoted as saying that a service that integrates internet content, video-on-demand (VoD) and live terrestrial TV broadcasting could be the way forward for the firm, which acquired Japan’s third largest mobile operator Vodafone KK (now Softbank Mobile) from the Vodafone Group last year.
