Maxis anticipates 600,000 3G users by year-end

Mobile operator Maxis Communications expects to increase the number of 3G subscribers to 600,000 by the end of this year, according to chairman Tan Sri Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor. As at 31 December 2006 the company had 220,000 3G users. Megat Zaharuddin said the company would further expand its 3G coverage network to cater to growing demand. ‘We want to widen the coverage and encourage more people to use some of the available content,’ he said. As it stands Maxis’ 3G coverage is centered in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor, Pahang and Sabah.
