Chunghwa Telecom’s operating results for the first quarter of 2007 show that the telco’s EBITDA increased 9.9% year-on-year to TWD25.14 billion (USD755 million), with net income reaching TWD11.15 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%. The rise in net profit was mainly attributed to one-off costs incurred in 1Q2006. Total revenues in 1Q2007 climbed 1.7% year-on-year to TWD45.78 billion. As of 31 March 2007 Chunghwa had 8.56 million mobile subscribers, up 0.82% from the previous quarter. The company added 340,000 3G subscribers during the quarter, bringing its total number of 3G users to 1.28 million. Broadband subscriptions, including ADSL and FTTB, increased to 4.11 million at the end of March, with 20,000 new ADSL subscribers and 58,000 new FTTB users added during the quarter. Fixed line subscribers fell by 0.29% quarter-on-quarter to 13.08 million.
