Moldcell deploys new base stations

Moldovan cellco Moldcell, which according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database ended 2006 with 448,000 subscribers, a 33% market share, has added eleven GSM stations to its network since the start of the year as part of its drive to expand its coverage area. Moldcell expects the new stations to increase signal quality and data transfer speeds. They have been added in Telecentru, Bariera Sculeni, Centru, Posta Veche, Botanica, Ciocana, Balti and Straseni. The operator claims its infrastructure can provide services to over 93%of Moldovan territory and 94% of the country’s population, and in the last year has increased its capacity by 51%, to three million.
