KDDI reports 363,700 net new mobile users in April

Japan’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, KDDI Corp, today reported that it signed up 363,700 net new mobile customers in April, driven by growth in demand for its 3G service. The cellco, which trails market leader NTT DoCoMo, had 27.681 million mobile users at the start of May. The number of people subscribing to its 3G service was 27.099 million, up 379,800, while 2G numbers fell by a net 16% to 581,100.
