ComReg to use 3.5GHz spectrum for broadband expansion

8 May 2007

Ireland’s telecoms watchdog the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) says it intends to reserve two channels in the 3400MHz-3800MHz (3.5GHz) band to improve broadband coverage in more remote areas of the country.

According to ElectricNets.net, the move is part of the regulator’s National Broadband Scheme, which is intended to encourage telcos to deploy broadband access to rural Ireland.
