Neuf Cegetel has reported a 10% rise in first quarter revenue to EUR781.5 million (USD1.1 billion), slightly below analyst forecasts in the region of EUR785.4 million. The telco added 166,000 net new broadband subscribers, taking the total ADSL customer base to 2.33 million. Growth in ADSL services helped to more than offset a decline in switched voice services.
Meanwhile, in separate but related news, Neuf Cegetel announced that it has won a three year contract from the French Ministry of Defence’s Information Systems department. Under the deal the telco will provide its 9Office solution for part of the ministry’s public telephony system and the rollout of a secure IP VPN for all ministry units. No financial details have been disclosed.
