BNamericas, quoting national statistics institute Indec, reports that mobile lines in service in Argentina increased 42.8% to 34.1 million at the end of March compared to the same time last year. Mobile traffic for the month of March 2007 rose 29.9% year-on-year to 2.16 billion calls, while fixed line local telephony traffic climbed 10.7% year-on-year and domestic long distance (DLD) calls increased 17.7%. The number of outgoing international calls was up 25%, while the number of minutes rose 12.1%. At the end of March Argentina had 9.06 million fixed lines in service, up 1.4% compared to end-March 2006. There were a total of 155,600 public phones, down 1.3%.
