Online news agency B92 is reporting that the consortium of Telekom Srbija and Olagar has paid EUR17.05 million to the Montenegrin Telecommunications Agency in respect of the country’s third wireless concession. The regulator launched an international tender back in November last year for a combined GSM and UMTS concession using a paired frequency block of 2×9.6MHz bandwidth in the 900MHz range, 2×20MHz in the 1800MHz range and 2×15MHz paired and 1×5MHz unpaired in the 2100MHz range. Mobilkom, the wireless arm of Telekom Austria, and Telekom Srbija quickly paid the required EUR4,000 for access to bidding documents and it was the latter, as part of a consortium with Netherlands based Olagar, that was announced the winner in mid-March 2007. The new company, which has said it will launch in July, has promised to invest more than EUR90 million in its network.
