Kordia selects Alcatel-Lucent to enhance IP network

26 Apr 2007

Alcatel-Lucent says that Kordia, a provider of customised broadcast and telecoms network services in the Asia-Pacific region, has selected its portfolio of IP/MPLS-based and optical networking products to enhance its New Zealand-wide IP network. Alcatel-Lucent will supply Kordia with its 7750 Service Router (SR), 7710 Service Router (SR) and 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS) to address the service provider’s routing requirements, as well as deploying Alcatel-Lucent data-aware Optical Multi-Service Node (OMSN) networking systems to deliver resilient, carrier-class Ethernet services over Kordia’s existing infrastructure. The latter’s digital microwave and fibre-optic networks are believed to link New Zealand’s major cities, towns and rural centres and form the backbone of the country’s TV and radio broadcast system.
