Local press reports cited by BNamericas state that the OECD has called on the Mexican government to eliminate the foreign investment cap in Mexican companies to help boost overseas investment in the telecoms sector. According to local daily La Jornada, OECD analyst Taylor Reynolds believes laws limiting foreign ownership to a minority stake are a major obstacle for the growth of any industry. He added that in the case of telecoms it leads to monopolies and high telephony rates.
