Telstra CEO says FTTN network revival 'not close'

19 Apr 2007

Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo says that despite talks about reviving the planned AUD4 billion (USD3.3 billion) high speed broadband network, the telco and the government are no closer to reaching an agreement. The Australian telco scrapped plans for the fibre-to-the-node network last year after a stand-off with the competition regulator over the prices it could charge rivals to use the technology. ‘We’ve been having lots of conversations… for a period of time, and I would say we’re not close as far as I’m concerned,’ Trujillo told reporters.
