Telefónica de Argentina offers dual-play

Telefónica de Argentina (TAR), former monopoly and dominant wireline operator in the south of the country, has launched a dual-play package of broadband services and unlimited local fixed line calls for a single monthly fee, according to BNamericas, reporting a company statement.The service, called Duo, offers customers the option to choose between a 1Mbps and a 2.5Mbps broadband connection. The package is part of the company’s attempt to increase the internet penetration in the country, the statement read. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, TAR finished 2006 with 4.6 million fixed line customers and over 517,000 broadband subscribers.
