SaskTel reports 2006 growth

Saskatchewan-based telco SaskTel has reported its financial and operating results for 2006, posting a 12.5% year-on-year rise in net income to CAD72.5 million (USD64 million), on revenues that rose 3.1% to CAD1.01 billion, driven by uptake of wireless and multimedia services. At the end of December 2006 SaskTel had 579,000 fixed access lines in service (down by 5,000 year-on-year), 412,000 wireless customers (up by 43,000) and 193,000 internet subscribers (up 12,000).
