TeliaSonera completes Debitel Danmark acquisition

16 Apr 2007

Swedish telco TeliaSonera last week completed the acquisition of 100% of debitel Danmark, following approval of the deal by the Danish Competition Authority on 29 March 2007. The transaction also includes debitel’s 50% share of MVNO DLG Tele. Under the deal debitel will continue to operate as a service provider under its existing brand and will see no major changes to its operation. On 11 April TeliaSonera paid EUR63 million (USD85.3 million) cash, and settled debitel’s EUR35 million debt to the buyer. Further payments are capped at EUR45 million plus interest, and are dependent on the development of debitel over the next six months. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, at the end of 2006 debitel Danmark had 110,000 fixed line subscribers, plus a total of 300,000 mobile customers under its debitel and DLG Tele brands.
