Cloud9 launch delayed

13 Apr 2007

The launch of Cloud9’s mobile network on the UK’s Isle of Man has been delayed because of a last-minute change in the handling of emergency calls. Plans to begin services in March were put on hold for discussions with the Department of Home Affairs, Cable & Wireless, Manx Telecom and the Communications Commission to agree on the delivery of 999 calls, in line with the department’s revised requirements. Chief executive Lee Jones said: ‘Our core network has been in a position to move towards launch for some time. However, we anticipated short term setbacks with multiple parties being involved in the issues of integration.’ He said cooperation has so far been excellent and believes an agreement is imminent and should see Cloud9’s network launch later this month.
