Qtel executive chairman confirms Asia-Cell closure plan

According to news service MENAFN, which quotes Iraq Directory, the executive chairman at Qatar Telecom (Qtel) has said that the company will close Asia-Cell, an Iraqi cellco in which Qtel’s Kuwaiti subsidiary National Mobile Telecommunications Company (Wataniya Telecom) owns 40%. Last week it was reported that a request to shut down Asia-Cell had been presented to the courts of the Cayman Islands.
