Sonaecom targets broadband increase

3 Apr 2007

Sonaecom has launched a new push to win triple-play telephony, internet and TV customers, saying it is aiming for 20% of Portugal’s broadband market by 2009, up from less than 10% currently. The firm has also hinted that it is looking at a number of possible acquisitions, including Bragatel, TvTel, Oni and Tele2 Portugal, AFX reports. The country’s broadband sector is currently dominated by Portugal Telecom (PT), which offers services via both ADSL and cable networks. Sonaecom failed in a bid to acquire PT earlier this year.
