Telecel plans USD80m expansion

Paraguay’s largest mobile operator Telecel, which trades under the name Tigo, says it plans to invest between USD70 million and USD80 million on its GSM infrastructure in 2008. The firm says the investment will go towards improving quality of service and expanding network coverage, BNamericas reports. The company, which is wholly owned by Luxembourg-based Millicom International Cellular, had 1.27 million subscribers and a 37% market share at the end of 2006, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
