Romania’s telecoms regulator ANRCTI has launched a public consultation process aimed at defining its strategy until 2010. The watchdog is calling for those involved in the industry to become involved in setting regulatory objectives and defining a methodology and action plan. Dan Georgescu, President of ANRCTI, declared: ‘The fulfilment of the fundamental objectives of the regulatory activity, namely to promote competition, encourage investments and innovation and protect end-users’ rights and interests within the electronic communications sector – one of the most successful and dynamic sectors of the Romanian economy – triggers the necessity of a strategic approach at the level of the institution responsible for co-ordinating this activity.’
