Sprint Nextel has released further details of its planned WiMAX service launch. The firm has named a number of major metropolitan markets which can expect to have live WiMAX networks in early 2008, including Dallas, Austin, Boston, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and Seattle. Chicago and Washington DC had already been unveiled as Sprint’s first-phase launches, with both cities expected to have commercial networks by the end of this year. The networks are being deployed by Motorola, Samsung and Nokia. The cellco has also announced more details of its partnerships with device suppliers; Samsung has been chosen to provide WiMAX-enabled PC data cards, as well as a dual-mode WiMAX/1xEV-DO modem. Equipment deals have also been inked with ZTE and ZyXel.
