26 Mar 2007

Indonesian mobile operator PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) has selected IT services and data solutions company Datacraft to upgrade its SMS capabilities in a bid to increase traffic and revenues. Text messaging is very popular in Indonesia, and Telkomsel – the leading operator with more than 56% of the market – wants to maximise the revenue potential SMS affords. In a USD9 million deal, Datacraft will install and configure Cisco ITP (IP Transfer Point) technology to allow the operator to better manage peak SMS traffic. The IT firm will also deploy Cisco routers to provide advanced intelligent SMS routing by acting as signalling gateways.
