Interconnect row settled

26 Mar 2007

The Romanian mobile operators Cosmote Romania (formerly Cosmorom) and Telemobil-Zapp have reportedly reached a verbal agreement over interconnect fees, a deal which should signal an end to a row which resulted in calls between the two networks being blocked earlier this month. Local newspaper Nine O’Clock reports that the agreement on the terms of interconnection will be set in a written form over the next weeks. Cosmote and Zapp are Romania’s two smallest cellular operators, with less than 10% market share between them; the sector is dominated by Orange and Vodafone.
