PoC launched in Namibia

23 Mar 2007

Namibia’s largest cellco Mobile Telecommunications (MTC) launched a Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) service in the capital Windhoek on Monday, initially providing the group-based ‘walkie-talkie’ service to the police force. The commercial launch followed a successful trial with the police conducted in December. The cellco claims that it is only the second PoC service available in the continent, after South Africa.
