Broadband connections up 66.2% in 2006

BNamericas reports that Argentina ended 2006 with 1.59 million broadband connections, up 66.2% compared to a year earlier, bringing broadband penetration to 4.1%. ADSL connections were up 76% in 2006, while cable hook-ups rose by 49% and satellite links by 12.7% in the same period. 90% of the country’s broadband connections are accounted for by the capital Beunos Aires and the provinces Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Córdoba and Mendoza. The information comes from US Vendor Cisco’s ‘Broadband Barometer’ study, carried out with the local branch of consultancy IDC.
