Russia’s largest cellular handset retailer Euroset has launched as a mobile reseller. It has signed a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) deal with cellular operator SMARTS which covers the Samara region, and is looking at expanding the service to cover the Saratov and Ulyanovsk regions, Prime Tass reports. The Russian government approved the introduction of mobile resellers in December, although several trial projects have been under way since 2005. SMARTS operates GSM networks in 16 Russian regions and had 3.7 million subscribers at the end of February. Euroset, meanwhile, owns a chain of more than 5,200 mobile phone retailers across Russia.
