Venezuelan state-owned telco CVG Telecom plans to launch commercial fixed-wireless telephony services by May, reports BNamericas quoting local press. The company says it has deployed 36 CDMA-450 base stations across the country, each with a coverage radius of around 50km. CVG is already operating a pilot service with four operative cell sites. The first phase of its full-scale service is expected to benefit some 800,000 users in underserved areas.
