Rumour mill links Free to sale of fixed line unit Onetel

19 Mar 2007

French alternative operator Iliad (Free) is rumoured to be considering the sale of its fixed line pre-selection service Onetel, according to Telecompaper citing a report in the French newspaper Les Echoes. No potential buyers were mentioned. Onetel is understood to have around 220,000 customers, but is smaller than Iliad’s other fixed line unit Iliad Telecom and significantly smaller than the group’s primary business, ISP Free. Iliad has already sold off its pre-paid card subsidiary Kertel to Proximania for EUR21 million in the face of declining revenues from the operation.
