Brasil Telecom rolls out quad-play in Brasilia, Campo Grande

19 Mar 2007

Brazilian telecoms operator Brasil Telecom (BrT) is rolling out a ‘quadruple-play’ – fixed, mobile, internet access and pay-TV service – in two of its concession areas, writes BNamericas citing a report from local newspaper Folha de S Paulo. BrT, which inked a deal with the satellite broadcaster Sky+Directv last month, has already launched quad-play services in the capital Brasília and the city of Campo Grande. It now plans to expand coverage to its other concession areas of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Rodônia and Tocantins. In an interview with Folha de S Paulo, BrT’s chief executive Ricardo Knoepfelmacher is reported to have said that the new service will cost up to 40% less than its competitors’ offerings.
