Ukrtelecom revenues up 1.5%, net profit down 15.6%

Ukraine’s incumbent fixed line operator Ukrtelecom has reported 2006 revenues of UAH7.879 billion (USD1.633 billion), up 1.5% on the previous year’s restated figures, whilst its net income fell by 15.6% to UAH513 million. The unimpressive top and bottom line performance was attributed to recent drops in fixed line call traffic, caused by mobile substitution, and a 7.7% annual rise in CAPEX to UAH2.158 billion. Ukrtelecom is concentrating its investments on expanding its broadband network and other internet services, as well as constructing corporate networks, whilst it is also preparing for a launch of GSM/W-CDMA mobile services.
