Malaysia’s Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik has announced that Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will reveal the winners of the much-anticipated WiMAX licences tomorrow. ‘I have just received the recommendations of the MCMC,’ Lim told reporters in Putrajaya today. ‘I have gone through it. I will be sending it down today so that they [the MCMC] should be able to make an announcement tomorrow,’ Dr Lim said, without giving further details.
The government had previously said that up to four blocks of spectrum would be up for grabs, but was looking to award only two initially. The applicants include Telekom Malaysia, Maxis Communications, MiTV Corp, DiGi.Com, NasionCom, MIB Comm, Jaring Communications, Asiaspace, Go Lightspeed Broadband, Bizsuft, IP Mobility, Optical Communicataions Engineering, Celcom Timur, Fibrecomm Network, SGR Capital, REDTone-CNX Broadband, YTL e-Solutions and Electcoms Wireless.
