TeliaSonera re-launches wholesale bitstream offer

13 Mar 2007

TeliaSonera is now offering bitstream access to its local loop copper network for rival DSL operators, two years after it was originally ordered to include it in its wholesale offering by telecoms regulator the PTS. Since then the Swedish incumbent has appealed the decision several times, but a court ruling in favour of the PTS early last month left TeliaSonera with no option but to reintroduce the wholesale service, named Skanova Bitstream. The offer is an alternative to its existing LLUB (Local Loop Unbundling) and Skanova Broadband wholesale PSTN services. Interested operators can now sign a framework agreement with TeliaSonera for delivery of Skanova Bitstream in the summer. DSL transmission speeds of up to 24Mbps are available where technical and geographical conditions allow.
