EU throws out France Télécom appeal concerning market abuse ruling

9 Mar 2007

According to reports from AFX News, the EU has rejected France Télécom’s (FT’s) appeal against an EU Commission finding which found the incumbent’s broadband unit Wanadoo had abused its dominant position in the internet access market. An EU court upheld the fine of EUR10.35 million imposed on FT by the Commission in July 2003 after it found the telco guilty of practising predatory pricing – offering a loss leader on high speed internet services in an effort to corner the market.
