Cosmote and Telemobil still unable to reach interconnect deal

9 Mar 2007

Romanian mobile operators Cosmote and Telemobil (Zapp) are continuing a dispute over interconnect charges which saw calls between their networks blocked for 36 hours. Cosmote has criticised Telemobil for its decision to cut the links between the networks between 1 and 2 March, but Telemobil has defended its actions, saying Cosmote is unjustified in its refusal to accept a new interconnect agreement. Negotiations between the two parties are continuing. Cosmote and Telemobil, which trades under the name Zapp, are the country’s two smallest cellular operators, with market shares of around 4% and 2% respectively.
