Mobilkom sues Kosovo’s TRA

8 Mar 2007

Austrian cellco Mobilkom has filed lawsuits with the Priština municipal court and the country’s Supreme Court demanding EUR100 million in damages from the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (TRA). Mobilkom’s legal representative Bejtus Isufi told local news agency B92 that the litigation is in respect of ‘irregularities’ in the tender for the country’s second mobile licence. Kosmocell was initially deemed by the TRA to have won the concession but failed to hand over the EUR81 million fee. The licence was then offered to the second placed bidder, Telekom Slovenia’s local subsidiary IPKO Net, which offered EUR75 million for the concession. Mobilkom was reportedly placed third in the competitive tender.
