UPC spends EUR6m on upgrades

Romania’s largest cable operator UPC has invested EUR6 million to upgrade broadband internet speeds on its networks. ACT Media says that the upgrade will boost peak download speeds to 6Mbps. UPC Romania had 119,000 high speed internet customers and claimed around 11% of the country’s broadband market at the end of 2006, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
