French alternative telecoms operator neuf Cegetel has announced full-year net profit of EUR213 million, reversing a EUR129 million loss in 2005. According to reports from AFXnews, the group is now targeting a gross margin of 25% at the end of 2008, up from 20% in the second half of 2006. The group announced a dividend for shareholders of EUR0.40 per share, following its flotation on the stock market in October.
neuf Cegetel says that by the end of 2009 it hopes to have signed up 250,000 customers to its new 50Mbps FTTx service, due for launch in April. The telco is launching the service for residential users in Paris next month, pricing it at EUR29.90 per month. neuf Cegetel has invested EUR2.8 billion in its national fibre-optic network since 1998, and now operates 45,000km of cable and MANs in metro areas connecting around 4,000 enterprise and operator sites. A 100Mbps service will be available ‘soon’.
