Dialog’s eZ Buddies to improve phone access

Dialog Telekom, Sri Lanka’s largest cellco by subscribers, today announced the pilot launch of public mobile telephone services under the banner ‘eZ buddies’, in an effort to improve telecoms access to underserved communities. Similar to Bangladeshi operator GrameenPhone’s Village Phone programme, the eZ buddies scheme involves supplying local entrepreneurs with a ‘business in a box’ including a GSM mobile phone, branded marketing material and training guides.
