Germany’s second largest DSL provider in terms of retail subscribers, United Internet, has posted its full-year results for 2006. Its revenues were EUR1.27 billion (USD1.67 billion), 58.2% up on 2005’s figure of EUR801.5 million, whilst the DSL subscriber base grew from 1.74 million to 2.27 million in 2006. The ISP also has 170,000 dial-up internet subscribers, a number which has fallen year-on-year with DSL substitution. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, incumbent Deutsche Telekom dominates the German broadband retail market, with a 47% share at the end of 3Q 2006, over three times its closest rival United, which had a 15% share at the same date.
