70% of complaints relate to telecoms

BNamericas reports that 15,792 (67%) of the 23,465 complaints received by Buenos Aires consumer protection association Adecua in 2006 related to telephony and internet services. The association received 6,592 complaints about mobile services, 5,220 about fixed line services, and 4,024 regarding internet services. Customers’ grievances include mobile lines not working, cellcos changing contractual terms after the contracts had been signed, fixed line faults taking up to three weeks to repair when telcos promise a three-day turnaround, difficulties encountered in cancelling internet services, and much slower internet speeds than initially promised.
