PLDT to spend USD416.8 million in 2007 on network upgrades

Filipino incumbent Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) plans to invest PHP20 billion (USD416.8 million) this year to upgrade its services, especially broadband services and its next generation network (NGN). The company’s president said his company had spent PHP18 billion last year, of which around PHP16.9 billion was committed in the first nine months of the year to expand the NGN, improve wireless broadband coverage, increase the number of 3G cellsites and improve its call centre business.
