Videotron reports growth stats

As of 31 December 2006, Quebec-based cableco Videotron had 805,000 internet subscribers, after adding 154,000 net new users in the year, and 400,000 residential cable telephony users, a rise of 235,000 in twelve months. The company said in a statement that it now serves 1.572 million cable TV customers in Quebec, including 624,000 digital subscribers. It also reported 12,000 users of its new MVNO mobile phone service, which it rolled out in several cities in the third and fourth quarters of 2006. Videotron is also preparing to launch a pilot 100Mbps cable internet service for 150 trial users under a partnership with Cisco.
